Yountville, or more specifically Washington Street in Yountville, has some of my favorite restaurants: Ad Hoc, Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery, Bistro Jeanty, The French Laundry, and now of course Redd. Dimly light with a minimalistic décor and just a touch of mid-century modern feel, Redd looks incredibly sexy when seen through the ceiling to floor glass windows. The food is simply exceptional. You can taste in every bite the freshness of the ingredients and experience the concept of Farm to Table. The favorite dish of the night was the glazed pork belly. Pork belly has become one of those food fads that every restaurant tries to do but few execute well. For such a fatty, rich piece of pork, some restaurants still manage to serve it overcooked, dry, and lacking in flavors. This version at Redd is possibly one of the best thing I have ever eaten. Waiting for me after this decadent dinner was the very talented, very handsome Chris Botti performing at the Napa Valley Opera House. Perfect date night.
