Open Face Meatloaf Sandwich


I'm not a big fan of meatloaf. The texture is just unappealing to me. But Eric loves his meatloaf so to alter it a bit for me, he made it into an open face sandwich topped with bacon and cheese. The bacon sure makes the meatloaf texturally more appealing.

Chicken Pot Pie and Strawberries & Cream






One of my resolutions for Twenty Eleven was the same as last year, to continue to cook more often at home. Let's see how long that lasts! The Chicken Pot Pie was quite easy. We used store bought puffy pastry. The filling was a mixture of chicken, the holy trinity (sauteed carrots, onion and celery), heavy cream and seasoning. Fresh strawberries topped with light whipped cream finish off as dessert.

Shira-ae and Yakitori






Tried out Chef Morimoto's shira-ae recipe. It definitely needed a little more sesame kick and a little more seasoning than the original recipe calls for. The Yakitori was slightly sweet and slightly savory from the homemade teriyaki marinade, tender and incredibly smoky from the grill.
